We’re Arezoo Mana and Rasmus, a small team working from a studio by the sea.

The studio runs with a mix of hands on making by Mana and behind the scenes support and technical by Rasmus

We work together sketching lighting designs and refining ideas both online and in clay. It’s a quiet collaboration that blends art, design, and a shared love of functional beauty.

Craft

In my studio in Valencia, clay is shaped primarily on the potter’s wheel. A quiet process that takes patience, focus, and care.

I’m deeply inspired by the ocean and the natural beings and forms within it. The magic of darting fishes, the soft edges of beach wood, the worn surface of a seashell. All textures shaped by salt, tide, and time.

The potter’s wheel is thought to have first emerged in the Middle East nearly 6,000 years ago, and I often find myself thinking of the generations before me, my ancestors, perhaps yours and so many others across the earth whose hands, through the turning clay, grew both skilled and calloused as my own.

There’s something humbling and connective about being part of the worlds ongoing linneage of potters. We’re all just centering a lump of mud and coaxing it into form but at the same time, with such shared determination and the devotion of countless hours of practice to the craft

An Egyption statue from Giza. Ny-kau-Inpu was buried in the Old kingdom cemetery and his tomb included statues of servants that would follow him to the after life. One of them was this potter at his wheel

Plates set out on the table during shared meals, a cup held on a quiet morning, a bowl of fruit shared between children. Over time, they carry the marks of use and memory, becoming part of the stories of the people who live with them.

Other techniques such as slab building and hand-shaping are used when the form calls for it. These more sculptural methods allow for expressive variation in shape and texture, giving life to pieces that might not emerge on the wheel, like a lampshade or decorative tray.

It’s with these pieces that I explore my artistic side. While functional pottery grounds me with purpose, my art pieces allow for a freer expression of texture, light, and silhouette. They offer space to experiment and imagine.

Glazing is just as intentional as forming. Most of the glazes I use are made from scratch in the studio using raw minerals and oxides, then tested through many firings to reveal subtle, earthy finishes.
